Pick winers at Catterick RacesCatterick Racecourse, sometimes known as Catterick Bridge after the hamlet in which it is located, lies near Richmond, North Yorkshire, some 5 miles south of Scotch Corner, where the A66 meets the A1(M). Horse racing first took place at Catterick in the late 18th century, but it was not until the early 20th century that a stand was built and the racecourse as it is today became recognisable. That said, while the original framework still exists, the racecourse has undergone substantial redevelopment over the years, including the addition of luxury hospitality suites, etc.

RFC & RAF Catterick Now Catterick GarrisonCatterick Aerodrome originally became operational in 1914 as a training establishment for the Royal Flying Corps before switching to the newly formed RAF's administration during 1918 and becoming home to Number 49 Training Depot.

Catterick Village History

Catterick Village ChurchCatterick Village, while often associated with the nearby Catterick Garrison, is actually an historic village in its own right forming a civil parish in the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire, England.

Catterick's history actually goes back beyond Roman times. In Roman Britain Catterick was called "Cataractonium" where a Roman fort was built to guard the strategic location where the Great North Road and Dere Street met and crossed the River Swale.
